The special features of these AISI / SAE 52100 Rods include its high wear resistance, heat resistance and superior hardness and rolling fatigue strength. Known to be a cost effective solution with extended working life, this AISI 52100 Alloy Steel Forged Bars could be used in applications where the operation is at temperatures up to 120°C continuously. At room temperature, the hardness value of AISI 52100 Steel Rod ranges between 60 – 67 Rc on Rockwell hardness scale. 

Steel AISI / SAE 52100 Hex Bar is preferably re-melted using a vacuum arc technique in order to optimise its performance. While this high chromium steel grade could be hardened via cold and hot working processes, the AISI 52100 Bright Bars respond to annealing and tempering as well. In fact, both annealing and tempering the SAE 52100 Round Bars could be strengthened using the heat treatment process. Although the alloy is not recommended to be used for welding, steel SAE 52100 Bars prove to be useful in mill rolls, and vehicle parts due to its combination of tensile strength, hardness, and workability.
