Specifications ASTM A479, as well as ASTM A276, covers both hot finished and cold finished bars, produced in various shapes. Though according to stainless steel round bar manufacturer in China, specification ASTM A276 explicitly defers products intended to be reforged and free machining grades. Both the specifications aid the stainless steel rod manufacturers in China by guiding them with several aspects. These aspects or parameters include the type of alloy, size of the Stainless Steel Round rod, finish. Yet as compared to specification ASTM A276, the specification for ASTM A479 standard provides more clarification with regards to additional parameters including the testing requirements for the ASTM A479 Rod, inspection, certification along with the packaging requirements.
The delivery conditions for both the specifications vary as well. For e.g – ASTM A276 Round Bar could be furnished in any one of the following condition i.e. condition A – annealed, condition S – light cold work and lastly, condition B – heavy cold worked. On the other hand, the ASTM A479 Stainless Steel Threaded Bar has two strain hardened levels. Both the Strain hardened level 1 and level 2 furnished Stainless Steel Half Rounds would be similar but not identical to the ASTM A276 condition S and condition B. The ASTM A479 Stainless Steel Rounds would expect a grain size evaluation, in particular for all austenitic grades. However in instances when API grades are used to produce the Stainless Steel Flat Bar, manufacturers are not required to evaluate the grain size.
