The alteration of the chemistry for any stainless steel is appropriate for certain speciality operations. One such operation is the welding of 316L Steel Cold Finished Bars. Welding forms a permanent joint in a process based application. It involves the use of heat to melt or solder the product such that the JIS SUS 316L black bar is easily connected to a system. In instances where the content of carbon is really high, there is a formation of carbide precipitation at the grain boundary of these components.

Thus, leading to decay or intergranular corrosion. Also since the presence of high carbon in a product inhibits the formation of good welds. This is because carbon is chemically stable, even at high temperature, which in entirety defeats the purpose of welding. Hence suppliers suggest using 316L stainless steel round bar, as the lower content of carbon discourages carbide precipitation and unlike 316H, it eases welding operation. In addition to easing the process, using 316L stainless steel rods speeds up the joining operation, making it an asset to manufacturers. Typically, most individuals associate 316L stainless steel welding rod with marine grade. And, hence, they often use these bars in marine engineering. Furthermore, the ASTM A479 UNS S31603 hex bar functions well despite being exposed to seawater that contains halides or halogen elements such as Chlorine, fluorine and bromine.

The astm a276 type 316L flat bar is also non-toxic, making them useful additions in the pharma sector as well. Even the food industry, which has a high demand for sanitary products find using the DIN 1.4435 square bar an investment. Industries like pharma and food, frequently clean their equipment using harsh chemicals. Being a non-reactive allot, the ss 316L bright bar is perfect for these applications. Though the cost of using this alloy is much more than grade 304, the benefits offered by AISI 316L threaded bar outnumber grade 304.
