Titanium grade 6al-4v is an alpha-beta alloy. Similar to its other titanium alloys, the high content of titanium in the alloy of DIN 3.7165 Hexagon bar. Hence, these components can exhibit properties like higher strength to weight ratio as well as excellent resistance to corrosion. The 6al-4v Rod is amongst the most extensively used titanium alloys. The application of grade 5 is typical across a range of applications where properties such as low density and excellent corrosion resistance are deemed as important.
The UNS R56400 Titanium Flat bar is predominantly used in the aerospace industry. Because the alloy is biocompatible, grade 5 is an alloy that is well versed with the demands of the medical industry, and in particular the biomechanical ones. Biomechanical applications including implants and prostheses do not form toxic substances when they have been surgically implanted in the body.
Grade 5 Titanium Round Bar has a very low thermal conductivity at ambient temperature. Since the wear resistance properties of this alloy are considered to be poor, manufacturers often suggest the use of surface treatments. Treatments such as nitriding and oxidizing carried out on the ASTM B348 Ti gr 5 Threaded Rod could improve the surface wear properties of the alloy.
