Apart from administering the ASME SA194 Grade 2hm Eye Nuts with hardness test, proof of load test and cone proof load test, these Astm A194 Grade 2HM Square Nuts are required to conform to the chemistry requirements of the said specification as well.

While both grade 2H and SS A194 Grade 2hm Coupling Nuts have the same chemical composition, it is the testing parameter that varies. The term 2HM in ASTM A194 Grade 2hm Nut indicates that the alloy used to make carbon steel heavy hex nuts has been quenched & tempered, with these fasteners subjected to a 100% hardness test. Whereas grade 2H is indicative of the carbon steel heavy hex nuts being only quenched & tempered. Grade a194 2hm nut is a fastener that requires 100% of nuts to be tested for hardness.

This being said, the tests to be administered to grade Astm A194 Grade 2HM Heavy Hex Nuts must also take 3 additional parameters into consideration during testing i.e. 1.  Protection of the legibility of markings on the Alloy Steel 2HM Nuts, 2. Minimize the exterior changes in the dimensions and lastly 3. Maintenance of the thread fit of the sa 194 gr 2hm nuts. Astm a194 grade 2h nut dimensions metric tend to have a higher proof load requirement.
