SAE 1030 bright bar
Grade 1030 is a carbon steel alloy. Like most carbon steels, the main alloyants of these steels are carbon and iron. Though there are two alloyants that dominate the alloy, the AISI/SAE 1030 Steel Round Bars may contain trace elements like copper, aluminium, molybdenum, chromium along with nickel. Being high carbon steel grade, these 1030 Carbon Steel Rods are known to exhibit moderate tensile strength and hardness properties in an as-rolled condition.
To improve certain properties, these alloys are often given some form of treatments. The 1030 Candy Bar could be hardened and strengthened when the manufacturer cold works it. It would be fair to state that the 1030 Bright Bar also demonstrates properties like good machinability, good ductility and good weldability. Although it can be welded using all conventional methods, the 1030 Round Bar must be subjected to a pre and post heat treatment to optimise welding. Post the performance of annealing treatment, producers are required to carry out a Stress relief annealing on the 1030 Steel Bar.
