Copper and its alloys often deliver good performance at elevated temperatures, especially those applications which demand high electrical and thermal conductivity. The free movement of electrons within the C18150 Round Bar permits the transference of heat and the passage of current, which is why the conducting properties of this alloy are good. The chemistry for Alloy C18150 consists of the addition of 1% chromium along with 0.15% zirconium to copper. The creep resistance of this alloy sees a noticeable elevation due to the addition of these two elements.

Often, during operations such as spot welding of galvanized products or coated materials, electrodes tend to stick. By adding trace amounts of zirconium in the C18150 Copper Chromium Zirconium Rod, not only reduces sticking but also makes spot welding easier. In comparison to alloy C18200, copper chromium zirconium grade C 18150, yields a much better spot welding result, and hence, it is preferred by manufacturers as well.

Another area where this alloy excels is in environments that undergo high-stress conditions and applications that involve the use of high temperatures. Despite such stressful conditions, the UNS C18150 Copper Chromium Zirconium Casting demonstrates high strength and good wear resistance properties at elevated temperatures. A heat treatable alloy, C18000 Copper Chromium Nickel Rod finds use in applications where properties such as very good mechanical strength in addition to moderate electrical and thermal electrical conductivity are desired.
