Grade EN32 is a case hardening steel alloy. A Case-hardening process involves arranging a low-carbon steel grade inside a material that has a higher content of carbon. This arrangement is then heated. This entire set-up encourages the migration of carbon atoms on to the surface of the steel alloy. Hence, a thin surface layer of higher carbon steel is formed on the En-32b Rod.
However, the content of carbon will gradually become lower away from the surface of the steel. Characteristically, this alloy is known to exhibit low levels of tensile strength. However, the use of the En32b Round Bar is well suited to general engineering purposes. One such example is the production of grade EN32 for lightly stressed components. A highlight of using this material is that it demonstrates properties like good weldability and machinability.
These are characteristics seen in the Carbon Steel En32b Hex bar in its furnished condition. This alloy grade has a hard, & wear resistant surface and is suited for carburizing as well.
