Commonly, the en9 rod is supplied in an as rolled condition. Since the alloy could be hardened by either a flame or an induction process, the surface hardness value obtained is high. Which means the hardness value of en9 black bar ranges between 180 HB to 230 HB. For a carbon steel alloy, the en9 square bar is a grade that exhibits excellent wear resistance properties. In a normalised condition carbon steel grade, en9 bar is well suited for use in engineering applications. Generally, the applications where the en9 hex bar is used requires characteristics such as a higher tensile strength in addition to superior wear resistance. Typical applications for the en9 flat bar include its use in the production of shafts, woodworking, axes, knives, crankshafts, screws, bushes, sprockets, springs, cams, cylinders, sickles, drills as well as small gears, machine tools, keys and hammers.
