The basic chemistry of stainless steel Alloy 17-4PH consists of elements like chromium, nickel, and copper with an addition of niobium. This precipitation hardened 17-4 PH Stainless Steel nuts belongs to the martensitic class of stainless steel. Grade UNS S17400 combines properties such as high mechanical strength and hardness with good resistance to corrosion.

The corrosion resistance of 17-4 PH Threaded Rod is often compared to alloy grade 304, across several environmental conditions. Moreover, this alloy is generally considered to be superior as opposed to the 400 series stainless steels.
