Grade 410 is an alloy that falls into the martensitic class of stainless steels. Most manufacturers and suppliers refer to this material as a general purpose stainless steel grade. The 410 Stainless Steel Self Drilling Screw contains approx 11.5% chromium in their alloy. Hence, the corrosion resistance properties offered by this alloy are labelled as good. As a practice with most martensitic stainless steel grades, subjecting 410 Stainless Steel Screws to processes like Quenching and tempering can harden them. However, tempering grade 410 Stainless Steel Cap Screws must be avoided at temperatures that range between 425 °C – 600 °C.
Tempering the alloy at this temperature results in the low impact resistance of 410 Stainless Steel Set Screws. Their good properties make the 410 Stainless Steel Concrete Screws affable for applications that could involve getting corroded by mild corrosive media or for heat resistance and high tensile strength. Although the 410 Stainless Steel Machine Screws tend to have superior resistance to corrosion, the level of this particular property is lower than that of austenitic classes.
The techniques that are used to fabricate the Stainless Steel 410 Screw generally requires finalizing heat treatment. The operational temperatures of martensitic steels such as the Type 410 Stainless Steel Screws are oftentimes affected by their loss of strength, especially when used at raised temperatures. This is on account of the combination of over tempering the alloy and loss of ductility of the 410 Stainless Steel Tek Screws at sub-zero or cryogenic temperatures.
